Advertiser disclosure

Finmatchly is free to use because some of the companies we review pay us. Here's exactly how that works, what it does and doesn't affect, and how to tell a paid link from an unpaid one.

How Finmatchly makes money

Finmatchly is a free comparison service. We don't charge you anything, and we don't sell subscriptions. Instead, we earn money through affiliate partnerships: when you click a link to a partner — most often a green “Visit Site” button — and then visit their site, get a quote, or open an account, that company may pay us a referral fee or commission.

This is how most reputable comparison sites operate, and it lets us keep the research free for you while covering the cost of our editorial team. The partner gets a customer they were already willing to pay to reach; you get the comparison for nothing.

What compensation affects

Being paid affects a few things, and we want to be plain about them:

  • Which companies we can list. Some product categories are dominated by providers we have partnerships with, so paid partners may appear more often across the site.
  • Whether a “Visit Site” link is monetized. Outbound links to partners may be affiliate links that earn us a commission.
  • Where certain promotional placements appear. Clearly labeled promoted or sponsored units, when we run them, are paid — and they're always marked as such and kept separate from our editorial rankings.

What compensation never affects

This is the part that matters most. Money does not buy influence over our editorial judgment. Specifically:

  • Our star ratings. Editorial scores are set against a fixed methodology before any commercial conversation, and paying us can't raise them.
  • Our rankings. The order of our shortlists is driven by rates, fees, coverage, transparency, service, and eligibility — not by who pays. A partner beaten on the numbers ranks below a non-partner that wins on them.
  • What we write. Advertisers don't see or approve our reviews before publication, and they can't remove a review or edit a rating by paying us.
In one sentenceCommissions keep the lights on; they never buy a rank, a rating, or a kinder review.

How to spot a paid link

Assume that any outbound “Visit Site,” “Get a Quote,” or “Apply Now” button pointing to a provider may be a paid affiliate link. These links carry a rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute, the standard way of marking commercial links. Internal links — to our reviews, guides, and category pages — are never paid. Not every company we cover pays us, and we review products regardless of whether a partnership exists.

Editorial independence

Our ratings team and our partnerships team are kept separate on purpose, so the people scoring products aren't the people negotiating deals. You can read the full rubric on our How We Rate page and learn more about our approach on the About page.

A note on rates and figures

The rates, fees, premiums, and other figures shown on Finmatchly are illustrative editorial estimates to help you compare products — not quotes, offers, or personalized advice. Actual terms depend on your credit, income, location, and other factors, and pricing changes frequently. Always confirm current rates and terms on the provider's own website before applying. Finmatchly is a comparison and information service, not a lender, insurer, bank, or financial advisor.
